Spotify has lately been on the innovation train with their Uber partnership and now this communal take on party music selection. The host does need a Spotify premium account and the Festify app on their computer, but guests only need the code or QR on an internet capable device to participate. The more people vote for a track, the higher it moves up your queue. Democratic Voting Your guests can vote for songs using their smartphones. An internet connection and a Spotify Premium account are all you need to get your next Party started. Alas, hosts need not worry about their parties going awry, since Festify allows a backup playlist in case guests are too busy functioning to vote, as well as host manual override capabilities when they want the controls back. Earlier this year, an app called Festify went viral for crawling your Spotify listening habits and pumping out a lineup of your most-listened artists for the festival to beat all festivals. Festify uses Spotifys huge music library so your guests can choose from millions of tracks. Once everyone is tapped into the party-playlist, they vote on which songs to queue up, priority going to tracks with the most votes. The functionality is quite simple: the host creates a party on their account and guests can connect to polls on their mobile devices with an access code or by scanning the QR image. The app Festify crawls your Spotify play history and creates a unique lineup for you with your top 24 artists from the past month, past six months, and all time. Festify claims to solve all of these woes and allow party-goers to cooperatively choose their own jams. No more stressing to curate the perfect playlist, no more clashing among guests over song choices, no more aux-cord monopolizing. Music selection is made democratic with Festify, Spotify’s new feature and app pair.
